In Far Rockaway, Queens, a tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning where a man is suspected of fatally stabbing four family members, including two children. The suspect, identified as Courtney Gordon, was later shot and killed by the police. The incident took place between Brookhaven and Elk Drive at around 5 a.m., prompting a response from the NYPD.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered four individuals dead at the scene, while a 61-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital in critical condition due to multiple stab wounds. The severity of the situation was evident when a young girl made a distressing 911 call, reporting that her cousin was attacking their family members.
Courtney Gordon’s violent rampage resulted in the deaths of a 12-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s. As he fled the scene, he set fire to a couch, causing additional chaos. At approximately 5:17 a.m., the FDNY arrived to extinguish the fire.
During their investigation, two police officers encountered Gordon near the residence, carrying luggage. Suspicious of his behavior, they approached him to ask questions. However, the situation quickly escalated when the suspect brandished a kitchen steak knife, slashing one officer in the neck and the other in the head. In response, one of the officers fired their weapon, ultimately killing Gordon. Both injured officers were transported to the hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
