A man has been apprehended by the police in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon in southeast Columbus, according to an update. The incident took place in the Berwyn West neighborhood on Landon Drive at approximately 5:50 p.m. The victim, identified as 41-year-old Michael Holland, sustained a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to Obetz Ohio Health in critical condition. Unfortunately, Holland was pronounced dead at 6:28 p.m.
The authorities have stated that the shooting initially stemmed from a physical altercation, and the alleged perpetrator has been identified as 21-year-old Thomas Lacey III. Surprisingly, Lacey III did not flee the scene after the incident but instead stayed put. He was subsequently arrested and charged with murder. Lacey III is set to make his initial court appearance during his arraignment on Monday morning.
