Convicted Felon Charged with December 2022 Shooting in Memphis Lounge
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Marico Patterson, a 26-year-old convicted felon, is now facing charges of first-degree murder, employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, and possessing a weapon as a convicted felon. The charges stem from a shooting incident that occurred in December 2022.
On December 12, 2022, law enforcement officers received a distress call and rushed to the scene at J&B Lounge located at 687 Walnut Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
During their investigation, officers interviewed a witness who informed them that the victim had been involved in a verbal altercation with two women, both of whom he had prior relationships with. The witness stated that the victim had entered the club to retrieve his belongings, and as he was being escorted out, gunshots were fired, hitting him in the hand, upper torso, and head areas.
Authorities were able to identify Marico Patterson as the alleged shooter in the incident. A witness testified that Patterson had been seen in the establishment prior to the shooting, attempting to fix a malfunctioning firearm. The witness further revealed that she had warned others to remove the victim from the premises, suspecting that Patterson intended to harm him.
After the witness left the lounge, she heard three gunshots and witnessed the injured victim stepping outside before collapsing on the ground. Patterson fled the scene immediately following the shooting.
