A student was apprehended on Friday after Moeller High School went into lockdown following a report of a threat. According to school officials, there were allegations that a student had brought a firearm onto the school premises. As a precautionary measure, the school was placed on lockdown, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department swiftly responded to ensure the safety of the students and staff. The sheriff’s office received information that the student had brought a handgun to school and allegedly displayed it to a classmate. Consequently, school security located the student in the bathroom. Upon closer examination, it was determined that the reported handgun was actually a BB gun that closely resembled a Glock semi-automatic pistol, holstered in the waistband of the student’s pants.
The student, identified as 18-year-old Amaru Harrison, now faces charges of inducing panic and illegal conveyance or possession of a deadly weapon or object that is indistinguishable from a firearm within a school safety zone. In light of these charges, Harrison has been transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
