Gabriel Faudoa, who fatally stabbed his mother while on parole for a prior assault conviction, has been convicted by a Weld County jury. He stabbed his mother 54 times and claimed methamphetamine-induced psychosis as defense. Faudoa faces 16 to 48 years in prison when sentenced in January 2024. Janet Oravetz (9News) reported
Gabriel Faudoa, a man from Weld County, Colorado, is facing a potential prison sentence of 16 to 48 years. He was recently convicted by a jury for the murder of his own mother in 2021. Shockingly, Faudoa committed this heinous act while he was serving parole for a previous assault conviction. The jury reached a guilty verdict on November 3.
During the trial, it was revealed that Faudoa had stabbed his mother a total of 54 times. In his defense, he claimed that he was suffering from methamphetamine-induced psychosis at the time of the attack. However, the jury was not swayed by his explanation.
The victim, June Martinez Faudoa, also known as “Jean,” was discovered dead in her home on May 11, 2021. She was 66 years old at the time of her tragic death. Gabriel Faudoa was identified as a suspect based on witness statements, and after committing the murder, he attempted to flee the area in a stolen vehicle. However, he was apprehended by deputies and Eaton police near 5th and Wall Streets in Eaton at around 8:30 a.m. on the same day.
It was further revealed that Faudoa had a history of violence. In 2019, he was convicted of second-degree assault involving strangulation. As a result, he was sentenced to six years in prison, but he was granted parole in August 2020 after serving only 20 months.
Faudoa’s sentencing is scheduled for January 18, 2024. If given the maximum sentence, he could spend up to 48 years behind bars. Currently, he is being held without bond at the Weld County Jail.
In conclusion, Gabriel Faudoa’s conviction for the brutal murder of his mother highlights the tragic consequences of his violent tendencies. The jury’s guilty verdict sends a strong message about the severity of his actions. With the potential for a lengthy prison term, Faudoa may finally face the consequences of his actions and be separated from society for a significant period of time..
