Suspect Arrested Following Fatal Shooting in Las Vegas
A suspect has been apprehended after a deadly shooting that occurred during a heated argument over his girlfriend at a party in Las Vegas. Mauricio Quinteros, an 18-year-old, was taken into custody on November 5 and is now facing a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon. The incident was reported to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department through multiple 911 calls that described gunshots and a male victim being shot in the early hours of November 5.
Upon arriving at the scene on Paradise Rd., officers discovered the victim, later identified as Maykool Regino-Perez, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, Regino-Perez was pronounced dead at 2:32 a.m. The police secured the area and proceeded to gather witness statements and video surveillance footage from nearby residents.
The investigation was then handed over to the LVMPD Homicide Detectives, who were joined by the Clark County Coroner. As the inquiry progressed, Quinteros was identified as the prime suspect.
According to one witness, the incident unfolded when Quinteros confronted another man who had allegedly made advances towards his girlfriend. Quinteros requested a private conversation on the side of the house, where he punched the man in the face. After taking a few steps back, the suspect retrieved a black firearm from his waist area and fired at Regino-Perez, who was falling to the ground. Shockingly, Quinteros continued shooting at Regino-Perez as he lay on the ground.
“Quinteros fired at Regino-Perez as he fell to the ground and continued to fire at Regino-Perez as he laid on the ground.”

The witness estimated that the suspect discharged a total of “five to seven rounds” during the incident. After the shooting, Quinteros called for two individuals to join him in his blue Dodge Challenger and swiftly fled the scene. Authorities collected crucial evidence from the location, including six .40 caliber cartridge cases, potential blood samples, and various cans and bottles of alcohol and liquor.
An LVMPD Criminal Apprehension Team Detective successfully located the suspect and his girlfriend at the Westgate Resort at approximately 2:18 p.m. Upon arresting Quinteros, a black .40 caliber firearm was discovered on his person. The weapon was promptly confiscated from his front waist area and secured. Quinteros was subsequently taken to LVMPD for questioning, and his initial appearance in Clark County Justice Court was scheduled for November 8.
