An 80-year-old man from Marblehead, Karl Johnson, died after being struck by a vehicle on October 27. The driver cooperated with the investigation and no charges have been filed. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident. Salem News reported
A Marblehead resident named Karl Johnson, 80, tragically passed away at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after being struck by a vehicle on October 27. Johnson was initially taken to a local hospital but was later transferred to Beth Israel due to the severity of his injuries. The accident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Pleasant Street, between the traffic lights at Smith Street and Mohawk Road. Both intersections had designated crosswalks.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation. Currently, no charges have been filed in relation to the incident. Marblehead police, along with the Essex County District Attorney’s office and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, are working together on the investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Karl Johnson was a well-known figure in the Marblehead community. He was the owner of KA Johnson Builders for over 50 years and specialized in remodeling historic homes in the area. Additionally, Johnson served on the Marblehead Municipal Light Department and was a member of the town’s Planning Board.
