In Bacoor City, Cavite, a wanted drug suspect who killed a policeman and injured another officer during a buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas City on September 8 has been apprehended. The suspect, known as “Marlon,” was captured by law enforcement officials armed with an arrest warrant on November 8 in Barangay Molino IV. He is currently facing charges of direct assault with murder, direct assault with attempted murder, and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 at the Regional Trial Court Branch 129 in Dasmariñas City. The suspect is ranked as the fifth most wanted person in the Calabarzon region (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon).
Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, the director of PRO-4A, commended the officers involved in the arrest. He emphasized that this should serve as a warning to other fugitives that law enforcement in the region will relentlessly pursue them and ensure they face legal consequences.
During the buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas City, Marlon and his four accomplices became aware that they were dealing with undercover police agents. Marlon pulled out a caliber .45 pistol and shot Police Staff Sergeant Karl Marty Manzanilla and Patrolman Ariel Maribojo. While his accomplices were apprehended, Marlon managed to escape. The injured officers were rushed to Dasmariñas City Medical Center, but unfortunately, Manzanilla died on the way.
