Police Shoot and Kill Three Robbery with Violence Suspects in Kasarani, Nairobi
In a recent incident in Kasarani, Nairobi, the police encountered and shot dead three suspects involved in a robbery with violence. The officers not only recovered house-breaking equipment from the criminals but also found a homemade pistol in their possession. The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the police, patrolling in Chieko, intercepted individuals who were planning to commit a felony. The group had been targeting and robbing residents, stealing valuable items and cash.
According to the police, one suspect managed to escape with gunshot wounds before his body was discovered a short distance away from the shooting scene. This individual was identified as an accomplice of the others who had been killed earlier. Residents informed the police that they found a body near a river close to Kamuteini School. Further investigation confirmed that this deceased individual was part of the gang that had been shot at by the police.
The bodies of the suspects have been taken to the mortuary, awaiting identification and autopsy. This incident brings the total number of suspects killed by the police in their renewed efforts to combat crime in the city to five in just two days. The police anticipate a rise in criminal activities in the near future, particularly in residential areas where residents are targeted for their cash and mobile phones.
Enhanced Police Operations to Tackle Insecurity
Adamson Bungei, the Nairobi police commander, announced that they have intensified operations in the city to address the growing cases of insecurity. This includes increasing police patrols and deploying additional officers in preparation for the upcoming festive season. While he warned about the possibility of a surge in violent crimes, Bungei assured the public that they are committed to suppressing such incidents. He emphasized that many suspects tend to escalate their attacks during festivities to obtain money, which can lead to violent and fatal outcomes. Bungei advised victims to prioritize their safety and cooperate when faced with attackers, as nothing is worth risking one’s life for.
Investigation into the Murder of a Bodaboda Rider
Meanwhile, the police are currently investigating the murder of a bodaboda rider whose body was discovered with stab wounds in Mlango Kubwa, Nairobi. The victim was found lying on a heap of gravel behind kiosks, with three stab wounds on the head and signs of trauma caused by a blunt object. According to residents, the death is suspected to be a result of a violent clash between two groups of bodaboda operators vying for control of the business. It is believed that the body was transported from the initial scene of the fight to the location where it was found.
The police revealed that there has been an ongoing dispute between the operators regarding a car wash and a parking area, further suggesting a connection to the murder. Investigations into the incident are underway to apprehend the suspects involved. The body of the deceased has been transferred to the city mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
