The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has identified the two men who died in a crash in Northwest, D.C. on Sunday. The crash occurred when a Chevrolet Malibu collided with a Chevrolet Camaro, resulting in the deaths of Thaddeus Nelson and Ivan Young, Jr. The driver of the Malibu is cooperating with the investigation. On Tuesday, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) released the names of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a fatal crash that occurred in Northwest, D.C. on Sunday. The incident took place in the 3200 block of Bladensburg Rd., NE at approximately 1:20 p.m. A Chevrolet Malibu was traveling in a northeasterly direction when it attempted to make a left turn into a gas station. At the same time, a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling southwest on Bladensburg Rd., NE. Unfortunately, the Malibu collided with the front driver’s side of the Camaro, causing the Camaro to collide with a utility pole.
Tragically, both occupants of the Camaro were pronounced dead at the scene. The individuals have been identified as 28-year-old Thaddeus Nelson from NW, D.C., and 34-year-old Ivan Young, Jr., from Bryans Road, Md.
The driver of the Malibu is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to MPD. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.
