GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. – Lavorn Hakeem Johnson, a 32-year-old resident of Georgetown County, has been arrested for a double homicide earlier this year. He faces charges of murder, desecration of a corpse, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. The victims, Melvin Wise, 57, and Andrene Stewart, 41, were found in a shallow grave in a wooded area. Arrest Made in Double Homicide Case in Georgetown County, South Carolina
The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Lavorn Hakeem Johnson, a 32-year-old resident of Georgetown County, in connection with a double homicide that occurred earlier this year. Sheriff Carter Weaver revealed that Johnson is facing multiple charges, including two counts of murder, two counts of desecration of a corpse, and two counts of possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
According to Sheriff Weaver, the arrest took place on Tuesday at Belton Loop in the Dunbar Community. Johnson was apprehended without incident.
The victims have been identified as Melvin Wise, 57, and Andrene Stewart, 41, both hailing from New York. Their bodies were discovered by hunters on February 18th in a wooded area. The victims had been buried in a shallow grave, as reported earlier.
Lavorn Hakeem Johnson is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center, awaiting a bond hearing.
