After high school, Reed continued to pursue his football dreams at the University of Iowa. He quickly emerged as a standout player, showcasing his incredible skills as a running back. His exceptional performance on the field caught the attention of professional teams, leading him to be drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the 1963 CFL Draft.
