Two suspects have been arrested after a brief exchange of fire with the police in New Delhi. The arrested individuals were involved in a firing incident that occurred in the city on November 27. During the arrest, two pistols were recovered, and further investigation is ongoing. ANI News reported
Two individuals have been apprehended by the police after a brief exchange of gunfire in the Yamuna Khadar area near Metro Yard in New Delhi, India. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, and one of the suspects sustained a bullet wound during the shootout. The injured suspect, identified as Akki alias Sumit, along with his accomplice who is a minor, was captured by the police after a short chase.
According to the authorities, Akki and the minor were involved in a shooting incident that took place in O Block under the Welcome police station in the city on the night of November 27. The police received a PCR call regarding the firing incident, and during the investigation, it was discovered that two men on a scooty had fired shots outside the house of Abrar Ahmed, a scrap dealer. Although no one was injured, three empty shells were found at the scene.
Additionally, Abrar Ahmed reported receiving a phone call demanding Rs 50 lakhs (Indian currency) on behalf of the Hashim Baba gang. Consequently, the police filed a First Information Report (FIR) and initiated a manhunt for the suspects. On December 3, at approximately 3:20 am, the police intercepted two individuals on a white scooty near 3rd Pushta, Yamuna Khadar, close to the Metro Yard. When the suspects were signaled to stop, they abandoned their vehicle and attempted to escape in the darkness. Akki fired at the police team, resulting in a bullet injuring his right lower leg. However, the police managed to apprehend both suspects after a brief chase. Two pistols were recovered from them.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime, and it was revealed that Akki had connections with the Hashim Baba gang. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter..
