In Kolkata, a man named Rashim Khan was arrested by the Bidhannagar City Police for attempting to deceive people by creating a fake social media account of West Bengal Director General of Police Manoj Malviya. After tracing him to Rajasthan, the police team apprehended him and brought him back to Kolkata. During interrogation, Khan confessed to creating the fake profile with the intention of scamming people and making money. He admitted to sending personal messages to individuals, asking for money, but only a few people from Kerala and Karnataka responded positively. Khan, who is a mathematics graduate, is believed to be part of a larger racket involved in similar fraudulent activities..
