A woman recently went through a terrifying experience when she claimed that her Uber driver collided with another car and drove away, all while she was still in the backseat. Kiara, the young woman, recounted how she pleaded with the Uber driver to stop after the accident, but he ignored her pleas. Fearing for her life, Kiara made the split-second decision to jump out of the car onto a busy highway, risking her safety among oncoming traffic. She shared photos with Channel 11 News that depicted the extensive damage to the Uber vehicle, including a missing tire, a mangled back door, and a damaged bumper. Kiara emphasized that the driver’s actions jeopardized not only her life but also the lives of others on the road.
According to Kiara, she had ordered the Uber from Washington Pennsylvania for a roughly 40-minute drive to Pittsburgh. Initially, everything went smoothly until just before 1 a.m. when the driver missed her exit along Interstate 79 near Robinson. In an attempt to correct his mistake, the driver put the car in reverse, but instead of successfully maneuvering back onto the exit, he collided with another vehicle, causing it to roll over. Shockingly, the driver didn’t stop to assess the situation or check on the other driver involved in the accident. With Kiara still in the backseat, desperately urging him to pull over, the driver continued driving, leaving her in a state of panic.
“I kept saying please stop, just please stop the car. I want to get out,” Kiara recalled. Despite her repeated requests, the Uber driver ignored her pleas, leaving her with no choice but to take matters into her own hands. Overwhelmed by fear and uncertainty, she made the daring decision to leap out of the moving vehicle onto the busy highway. Finally, after Kiara jumped out, the Uber driver came to a halt, prompting her to immediately call for help using her cell phone.
Unfortunately, the ordeal left Kiara with serious friction burns, and she had to be transported to the hospital for medical attention. Seeking justice and accountability, she not only expects the driver to be held responsible but also wants the company, Uber, to take action. Kiara expressed her frustration with the difficulty of contacting help through the Uber app and suggested the implementation of an emergency button for situations like hers.
As of now, no charges have been filed, but Uber confirmed that they are cooperating with the police to aid in their investigation. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and protocols within rideshare services to protect both passengers and drivers.
In conclusion, Kiara’s harrowing experience sheds light on the potential dangers that can arise during rideshare journeys. Her courageous act of jumping out of a moving car highlights the urgency for improved safety features within the Uber app. The incident serves as a stark reminder that the well-being of passengers should always be a top priority, prompting the need for thorough investigations and appropriate actions to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future..
