The bodies of Davido and Karen Koep, a couple from Thurston County, Washington, were discovered on Saturday on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) property. The couple had been missing since November, and authorities believe that these bodies belong to them. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a body near Stedman Road Southeast on JBLM property, and during the investigation, a second body was found. Detectives at the scene have preliminarily identified the bodies as Davido and Karen Koep.
The son of the couple, Justice Dutton, expressed gratitude for the support they have received from the community during this difficult time. He specifically thanked the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office and other assisting agencies for their unwavering commitment to finding his parents. Dutton also expressed confidence in the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorneys to bring the person(s) responsible for this tragedy to justice.
Dr. Karen Koep and Davido were last seen on November 13. When deputies went to their home in the Lake Forest Development, they discovered that the couple was missing. A suspect, an Olympian man in his 40s, was arrested on November 17, four days after the couple’s disappearance. He was found hiding from law enforcement and was booked into Thurston County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. Court documents revealed that the suspect was in the process of being evicted by the couple before they went missing, as he was living on a property near JBLM.
