Teenager Injured After Motorcycle Collision Sends Him Plunging from Sriracha Bridge
SRIRACHA, Thailand – In Sriracha, Thailand, a devastating accident occurred on Wednesday evening, resulting in a teenager suffering injuries after his motorcycle collided with a bridge rail, causing him to plummet from the bridge. The victim, identified as 17-year-old Wanchana Khokhamala, endured fractures and abrasions to his right leg and body, requiring immediate medical attention.
The incident unfolded on a short bridge near Dara Samut School in Sriracha district, Chonburi province, around 4.30 p.m. Promptly responding to the scene, the Sriracha Rescue Unit discovered a severely damaged red Sonic motorcycle precariously positioned on the bridge. Meanwhile, the injured rider was found below the bridge, having fallen 5 meters onto the rocky beach.
According to Wanchana’s account to the rescue personnel, he was riding the motorcycle out of Central Sriracha alley at a speed of 60 km/h. When he attempted to apply the brakes, they failed, resulting in the motorcycle colliding with the bridge rail. Despite considering jumping off the motorcycle to mitigate potential injuries, he ultimately decided against it.
A 15-year-old witness, who happened to be a friend of Wanchana, disclosed that Wanchana borrowed his motorcycle for practice. The incident unfolded as Wanchana accelerated, failed to brake, and ultimately crashed into the bridge rail, leading to his fall. The quick-thinking friend immediately alerted the rescue team for assistance.
