In early October, Newark High School in Delaware experienced a theft incident where approximately twenty-four computers were reported missing from an unlocked classroom. The incident was promptly brought to the attention of a school resource officer, who initiated an investigation to determine the culprits behind this act of theft.
The investigation process involved meticulously reviewing the surveillance footage captured within the school premises and conducting interviews with potential witnesses. Through this diligent investigative work, two students, aged 14 and 15, hailing from Wilmington, were identified as the primary suspects in the case.
Recovery Efforts and Legal Consequences
The collaboration between Newark Police and school staff led to the successful recovery of a majority of the stolen computers. The combined efforts of these parties ensured that the stolen items were ultimately retrieved.
Subsequently, in late November, the two identified suspects voluntarily turned themselves in to the Newark Police, acknowledging their involvement in the crime. The legal ramifications of their actions have resulted in charges of theft over £1,500 and conspiracy second degree. Following their arrest, the suspects were released on unsecured bail and are scheduled to appear in Family Court for further proceedings at a later date.
