A 17-year-old girl, Natalie Navarro, has been indicted for capital murder in Dallas County, months after being the subject of an AMBER Alert. She was arrested for the shooting death of Arturo Pena and remains in jail on a million-dollar bond. Raegan Scharfetter reported
A Dallas County grand jury has charged 17-year-old Natalie Navarro with capital murder after she was previously the subject of an AMBER Alert. The indictment comes several months after Navarro was arrested for the shooting death of 21-year-old Arturo Pena in Garland’s Audubon Park. On the morning of August 29, a caller reported an unconscious male inside a vehicle, and when the police arrived, they discovered that Pena had been fatally shot. During their investigation, Garland detectives identified Navarro and 21-year-old Yordy Martinez as persons of interest in the case and obtained warrants for both of them. Navarro was later found and apprehended after an AMBER Alert was issued by the Dallas Police Department.
According to Navarro’s indictment record, she was involved in a robbery against Pena at the time of the shooting. Navarro, who will turn 18 on November 15, is currently in jail with a one million-dollar bond.
