Authorities have arrested a suspect following a shooting incident in rural Pottawatomie County.
According to Sheriff Shane Jager, at approximately 6 a.m., the sheriff’s deputies swiftly responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence located in the 4700 block of Blackjack Road in rural St. George.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered an adult victim who had sustained a single gunshot wound. The victim was promptly transported by EMS to a hospital in Topeka for medical attention.
During the course of their investigation, deputies identified the suspect as 35-year-old Matthew R. Young, a resident of Rural Wamego. With the valuable assistance of the Riley County Police Department, deputies successfully apprehended Young in Manhattan. Sheriff Jager confirmed that Young has been arrested on charges of Attempted Murder in the second degree.
The name of the victim has not been disclosed by the sheriff’s office.
