Statesville Police Apprehend 60-Year-Old Suspect for Felony Larceny at Construction Site
Reginald Anthony Glover, a 60-year-old resident of Statesville, was apprehended by Statesville Police Officers on Sunday, November 12. He faces charges of felony larceny from a construction site and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods or property.
Alert Officer Observes Suspicious Vehicle
During the evening of the incident, a vigilant officer from the Statesville Police Department noticed a vehicle acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Winston Avenue and 7th Street. The officer noticed construction materials protruding from the vehicle’s window, raising concerns.
The driver of the vehicle engaged in questionable behavior by abruptly stopping on Wilson Lee Boulevard, turning off the headlights, and exiting the vehicle, prompting the officer to investigate further.
Discovery of Stolen Construction Materials
Approaching the driver and a passenger seated in the back, later identified as Reginald Glover, the officer’s suspicions were heightened. Aware of an ongoing construction project nearby, the officers decided to inspect the new home being built in the 1100 block of Wilson Lee Boulevard.
Upon examination, authorities discovered a collection of brand-name construction materials, including vinyl siding, flashing, strips, and trim, that closely matched the items found in Glover’s vehicle. This evidence strongly linked him to the theft.
Driver Assists with Investigation
The driver of the suspicious vehicle cooperated fully with the officers, providing essential information regarding the location where Glover had loaded the stolen construction materials. This cooperation helped solidify Glover’s involvement in the crime.
According to a news release, Glover confessed to his guilt, leading to his immediate arrest. The driver, however, was cleared of any wrongdoing based on Glover’s statement, resulting in no charges being filed against them.
Imprisonment and Court Proceedings
Glover was subsequently taken into custody and incarcerated at the Iredell County Detention Center. As of November 14, he remains behind bars under a $30,000 secured bond. A District Court date has been scheduled for December 5, where he will face the charges brought against him.
