The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT’s patrol team, in collaboration with the maritime component of operation AWATSE, has successfully disrupted illegal bunkering activities at Folu Village in Ibeju-Lekki, a town located along the boundary between Lagos and Ogun states. This operation was carried out in response to the growing threat of illicit activities that are endangering the integrity of Nigeria’s maritime environment. Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, the Commander of NNS BEECROFT, led the team in their efforts to combat these illegal activities.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the Eagle-Net Special Squad attached to the Delta State Police Command has apprehended an individual named Israel Akita in Ugolo Community, Okpe Local Council. During a search conducted by the squad, Akita was found in possession of a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun and three live cartridges. The arrest of Akita demonstrates the commitment of the police force to ensure the safety and security of the community.
In a recent court ruling, Justice Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by a Chartered Accountant named Omafume Augustina Ayinuola against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and four others.
