Taylor County Lunch Lady Arrested for Allegedly Slapping Student Who Inquired About Lunch Menu
TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Leann Thomason, a lunch lady employed in Taylor County, has recently been apprehended on charges of Injury to a Child. The arrest comes after an incident where Thomason allegedly slapped an elementary school student who innocently inquired about the lunch menu.
According to court documents, the investigation into Thomason’s actions was initiated by a school resource officer at Buffalo Gap Elementary School, following a report from a concerned school employee. The employee had noticed a distressed student in the cafeteria and upon further inquiry, discovered that the incident involved another staff member.
During questioning by the school resource officer, the student recounted the disturbing incident. Apparently, when the child asked Thomason, one of the lunch ladies, about the day’s lunch options, she responded by forcefully slapping the student on the head. It is alleged that Thomason’s violent reaction was triggered by her annoyance at the child’s innocent question.
In addition to the student’s account of the incident, another witness corroborated the victim’s statement, confirming that Thomason had indeed slapped the student on the back of the head.
Following her arrest, Thomason was able to secure her release from jail by posting an $8,000 bond.
