Over a dozen individuals were apprehended in Colorado Springs after homeless outreach officers responded to reports of camping and drug activities. The Colorado Springs Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) detained 14 people, including two individuals who received verbal warnings for first-time offenses. Among the arrests, one suspect was wanted for a bank robbery in North Carolina, while others faced charges related to drugs, camping, and starting fires. A total of 35 misdemeanor warrants and two felony warrants were cleared during the operation. The arrested individuals were taken to El Paso County jail, with the two felony suspects identified as 31-year-old Douglas Spaulding, wanted for a felony drug charge, and 40-year-old Christopher Lee, wanted in connection with the bank robbery. Over a Dozen Individuals Detained in Colorado Springs Park
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – In an effort to address repeated complaints regarding camping and drug activities, the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) of the Colorado Springs Police Department conducted an operation at Dorchester Park, located just south of downtown, early Sunday morning. The operation resulted in the detention of 14 individuals suspected of camping and engaging in an active fire.
During the investigation, the HOT officers were able to identify two individuals who were given a required verbal warning for a first-time offense. However, the other 12 individuals were taken into custody.
The detained individuals were found to be wanted for various charges, including a bank robbery in North Carolina. The majority of the other alleged offenses were related to drugs, camping, and starting fires. In total, the police cleared 35 misdemeanor warrants and two felony warrants during this operation.
All 12 arrested individuals were transported to the El Paso County jail. Among them, two felony suspects were identified as 31-year-old Douglas Spaulding, wanted on a felony drug charge, and 40-year-old Christopher Lee, wanted in connection with the aforementioned bank robbery.
