Bengaluru: MBBS Student Commits Suicide, Police Investigating
An MBBS student, identified as Prakruthi Shetty (20), tragically died by suicide in Mangaluru city, Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. The incident occurred on Monday morning when Prakruthi jumped from the A J Medical College hostel building.
Prakruthi, who hailed from Athani town in Belagavi district, was a first-year MBBS student at the college. According to preliminary investigations, she had been struggling with feelings of depression due to her weight issues.
Authorities have found a suicide note in which Prakruthi expressed her exhaustion with life and her inability to lose weight. She wrote, “I had dreams of completing my MBBS course, but my obesity has become an obstacle. Despite my efforts to shed pounds, I have been unsuccessful, which has led to my depression.”
The police are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
