An 18-year-old teenager was fatally stabbed by a group of individuals after a dispute that arose during a photoshoot at a popular restaurant near Doddaballapura in Bengaluru Rural district, according to the police. The restaurant features a wall adorned with paintings that attract customers, making it a popular spot for photoshoots.
On the occasion of Deepavali, Surya and his three friends were taking photos when another group, who had just finished their meal at the restaurant, approached them and requested to have their own photos taken. Initially, Surya and his friends declined the request, but they eventually agreed to take the photos for the other group.
Upon completion of the photoshoot, the group insisted that Surya and his friends immediately transfer the pictures to one of their WhatsApp numbers. However, Surya explained that the photos could not be sent directly to mobile phones as they needed to be downloaded and transferred from the camera to a computer first.
As the other group persistently demanded the immediate transfer of the photos, an argument broke out between the two groups. During the altercation, one of the accused, identified as Dileep, pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed Surya in the chest. Surya collapsed on the spot and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The accused group quickly fled the scene on their motorcycles. The police have registered a murder case in connection with the incident and have recorded statements from Surya’s friends. Two of the five accused individuals have been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects, according to Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baldani.
