In a devastating incident in eastern Dallas, two individuals lost their lives early Sunday morning after being struck by a drunken driver who had veered off the roadway, according to the local police.
The Location and Timeline of the Accident
The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. in the 6700 block of Military Parkway, which is situated near the Buckner Terrace and Pleasant Grove neighborhoods of Dallas. Upon receiving the emergency call, officers rushed to the scene to investigate the crash.
The Cause of the Tragedy
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the police, it is believed that the driver, identified as Joel Rosales-Perez, 23, was traveling eastbound on Military Parkway when he lost control of his vehicle, veering off the road. Regrettably, he collided with another vehicle and struck two pedestrians who were standing nearby.
After hitting the pedestrians, Rosales-Perez managed to get back on the road but ended up crashing into a light pole, adding to the devastation caused by the accident.
Fatalities at the Scene
Tragically, the two pedestrians who were struck by the drunken driver lost their lives at the location of the incident, as confirmed by the police.
Victim Identification
One of the deceased victims has been identified as 21-year-old Lester Matute-Urquea, according to the police. However, the identity of the second victim is yet to be determined by the Dallas County medical examiner.
