On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Angel Success Watson was incarcerated by Magisterial Ben Barco upon her arrival at the Monrovia City Court.
Angel was investigated and charged with the crime of Murder under Chapter 14, Section 14.1 of the revised penal code of the Republic of Liberia. She is accused of intentionally causing the death of Ansu Kromah, who fell off the second floor of the old Euro Bank Building in the early morning hours of June 29, 2023.
The police conducted a thorough investigation into the alleged homicide case and gathered evidence that Ansu had visited the Euro Bank Building on Broad and Warren Streets on the morning of July 29, 2023.
Multiple witnesses, including Francis Kollie, a resident of the building and the son of Ma Fatu Kollic, who runs a business on the ground floor, saw Ansu on the premises around 2:30 AM on the morning of July 29, 2023.
Upon his arrival at the building, Ansu witnessed an argument between police officer Mike B. Thompson and another individual who had taken the officer’s phone from a charging station near Ma Fatu Kollie’s business area and replaced it with their own phone.
The argument was resolved with the intervention of Ma Fatu Kollie. While still on the ground floor, Ansu encountered Angel Success Watson and asked Francis Kollie to serve her a drink, which he would pay for.
Angel Success Watson was known to be in a romantic relationship with Francis Kollie. An argument ensued between Ansu and Officer Mike B. Thompson, which lasted several minutes until others at the scene intervened.
Following the intervention, the verbal exchange ended, and Officer Mike B. Thompson went to his accommodation on the ground floor of the building. Ansu was later seen going upstairs accompanied by Angel Watson.
It was later discovered that Mongoe G. Jallah, also known as Big Princess, and her roommates, including Princess Banda and Princess Yoko, along with Princess Yoko’s boyfriend, William Roberts, were at the Happy Club Entertainment Center on Warren Street on the night of July 29, 2023.
William Roberts decided to go to the Ministry of Transport for entertainment, and Mongoe G. Jallah and Princess Banda followed him a few minutes later. None of them were aware of Ansu’s presence at the building during the night as they were all asleep.
At around 5:30 AM, Ma Fatu informed Mongoe G. Jallah that Ansu was in pain and crying for help downstairs. Mongoe G. Jallah and Princess Banda went downstairs and recognized Ansu as their “God Pa.” They appealed to Ma Fatu and others to help get him to the hospital.
Further investigation revealed that on the morning after Ansu’s initial encounter with Angel Success Watson, she approached Emmanuel Mends-Cole, a resident on the third floor of the building, and negotiated with him for a short time of commercial sex in his room.
Emmanuel Mends-Cole agreed to the arrangement, and Angel offered to pay him L$100.00 to enable him and his friend to get high.
On July 29, 2023, while Ansu was receiving medical attention at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center, he disclosed to Miss Marthaline Miller that he was attacked by Angel Watson and three other men on the night of the incident, leading to his death.
