Cesar Wilkins Romero-Colon, a 32-year-old man from Lebanon, was involved in a series of crimes that occurred on November 7. The incident began with an armed mugging on Brandywine Street, where Romero-Colon pointed a black handgun at a victim and demanded that he empty his pockets. As the victim fled, he heard gunshots behind him. Romero-Colon then fled the scene on a bicycle and later stole a Dodge Caravan at gunpoint.
After the carjacking, Romero-Colon was pursued by the police, including the South Lebanon Township police. He drove the stolen Caravan in the wrong direction down Route 422 and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection with Narrows Drive. The driver of the other vehicle sustained serious injuries and had to be extracted by medical personnel. Fortunately, the driver is expected to survive.
Following the crash, Romero-Colon attempted to carjack another vehicle but was stopped by a Lebanon City Police officer. Despite commands to surrender, Romero-Colon moved towards the officer while displaying a handgun. During the struggle, a South Lebanon Township Police officer fired two shots at Romero-Colon but missed. When the police cruiser pulled away to safety, Romero-Colon dropped his gun and surrendered.
Upon his arrest, a stolen 9mm black handgun was found on Romero-Colon, loaded with a round in the chamber. He has been charged with multiple felonies, including robbery, receiving stolen property, and possession of a prohibited firearm. He also has pending cases for theft and drug-related offenses from October.
The district attorney emphasized the seriousness of Romero-Colon’s actions and expressed gratitude that all the officers involved survived the incident. She also mentioned the importance of remaining vigilant and taking crimes committed with guns seriously. Romero-Colon’s charges and trial will be personally handled by the district attorney.
Romero-Colon’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 16, and he has additional court dates for his pending cases in December. He has no previous criminal record in the state of Pennsylvania..
