A woman from Kenosha has been sentenced for smuggling a vape pen to a Racine County Jail inmate. The inmate’s lunch tray was intercepted with a nicotine vape pen hidden in the food. The woman, Kristie Jones, who worked for a food contractor, was in a relationship with the inmate. Kenosha Woman Sentenced for Smuggling Vape Pen to Racine County Jail Inmate
RACINE, Wis. – A Kenosha woman has been given a sentence for illegally bringing a vape pen to an inmate at Racine County Jail in 2022.
According to the sheriff’s office, in August 2022, a nicotine vape pen was discovered hidden in the inmate’s lunch tray. An extensive investigation revealed that Kristie Jones, a 30-year-old employee of a jail food contractor, was involved in a romantic relationship with the inmate and had concealed the vape pen inside his food.

Jones was immediately apprehended and taken into custody from her work area. During a body scan, a foreign object was detected and subsequently removed, which was identified as a vape pen containing marijuana. Further investigation led to the discovery of a hidden cellphone used by Jones in the jail’s kitchen area.
Court records indicate that Jones pleaded guilty in October to charges of delivering prohibited items to an inmate and possession of THC. As a result, she has been sentenced to one year in prison and an additional year of extended supervision. Her sentence commenced on November 9.
