The San Diego Police Department, responsible for investigating the shooting, released the identity of the suspect.

Incident Details
The incident began when the Escondido police received a report of a trespasser sleeping on the porch of a mobile home on East Valley Parkway. The officers arrived at the scene and encountered Douglas Quinn, who had been reported pushing a motorcycle through the complex. During the interaction with the suspect, the officers discovered that he had a felony warrant for a parole violation from Indiana. As they attempted to detain him, Quinn started running and reaching into his waistband. Allegedly, he then pulled out a gun and fired at the officers. In response, the officers returned fire, injuring the suspect. Quinn fell to the ground but then rolled over, pointing the gun towards the officers again, resulting in further shots being fired. The officers provided first aid to the suspect before paramedics arrived, but he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
Investigation and Review
The San Diego Police Department will conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting. Once completed, the county District Attorney’s Office will review the findings to determine if any charges should be filed against the officers involved. Additionally, the Escondido Police Department will conduct an administrative investigation into the officers’ use of firearms. The FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office will also be monitoring the investigation.
