Lansdowne Man Charged with Attempted Murder After Repeatedly Running Over Victim with Car
Overview
A shocking incident in Chester, Pennsylvania has led to the arrest of Jackson Joy, a 29-year-old man from Lansdowne. Joy has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault by vehicle, and other related offenses after allegedly using his car as a deadly weapon, repeatedly running over a victim in a brutal attack. The incident took place on October 6, resulting in severe head trauma for the victim. Chester Police are seeking information on Joy’s whereabouts.
The Incident
The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning when the police received a call about an accident with injuries on Franklin Street. Officer Gary Richardson was the first to arrive at the scene and was met by a distressed woman, identified as “Witness #1.” She informed the officer that her child, referred to as “Witness #2,” was missing. Fortunately, Witness #2 was found shortly after.
Officer Richardson discovered an unoccupied burgundy Honda minivan registered to Joy parked on the sidewalk in front of 117-119 Franklin St. The minivan had crashed into a fire hydrant and a legally parked red Nissan Sentra, causing significant damage to its front end and windshield.
At the scene, a seriously injured victim, identified as “Complainant #1,” was found lying on the ground approximately 4 feet away from the minivan. The victim was bleeding profusely and being supported by a friend, identified as “Witness #3.” Due to the severity of their head trauma, the victim was rushed to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for urgent medical treatment.
Witness Testimonies
During a recorded interview, Witness #1 provided crucial information to the police. She stated that she saw Joy intentionally ram his Honda into the front of 119 Franklin St. When she went outside to investigate, she discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood.
Witness #2, another eyewitness, also gave a recorded statement. According to Witness #2, Joy attempted to run her over with his vehicle, and the victim bravely stepped in to protect her. Witness #2 managed to escape by running across West Second Street and hiding in tall grass at the intersection of Second and Franklin streets. From her hiding spot, she witnessed Joy driving towards the victim, repeatedly reversing and moving forward until the vehicle finally halted.
Witness #3, who was a close friend of the victim, recounted the events that unfolded. Witness #3 stated that Witness #2 and the victim had just left the house at 119 Franklin when the victim suddenly returned, asking for Witness #2’s assistance. Witness #3 followed Witness #2 outside and saw her hiding in a nearby field. Then, Witness #3 heard a loud crash as Joy drove his vehicle back towards 119 Franklin St. When Witness #3 approached the van, Joy emerged from the vehicle carrying a black stick. Fearing for his safety, Witness #3 fled, while Joy returned towards 119 Franklin Street.
