A Harrison County Grand Jury Hands Down Murder Indictments in Two Unrelated Incidents
The Harrison County grand jury has recently issued murder indictments in two separate cases. The first case involves the murder of Russell Dale Crawford Shyne, a 36-year-old man, on August 26. Tramaine Rondell Dunn, a 41-year-old man, has been indicted for intentionally and knowingly causing Shyne’s death by shooting him with a firearm. The incident took place on Francis Street in Marshall, Texas, where witnesses directed the police to a white car in which the suspect, Dunn, was sitting. When officers arrived, they found Shyne with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Despite attempts to provide medical aid, Shyne later succumbed to his injuries at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center’s ER. Witnesses at the scene reported that Dunn had been causing problems and was asked to leave multiple times. It was alleged that Dunn retrieved a gun from his vehicle after being asked to leave and shot Shyne during a physical altercation. Dunn later admitted to shooting Shyne, claiming self-defense.
The second case involves the murder of Jeremy Vick, a 35-year-old man, on July 4. Kristopher Dylan Ratcliff, a 36-year-old man from Gilmer, has been indicted for intentionally and knowingly causing Vick’s death by shooting him with a firearm. The incident occurred in the Lazy Lakes area of Harrison County. Law enforcement agencies responded to the scene and discovered Vick had been shot. He was given medical treatment but was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Ratcliff had fled the scene but was later apprehended in Bangor, Maine with the help of the U.S. Marshal’s Service. He was extradited back to Harrison County in September and is currently being held in the county jail.
Smuggling of Persons
In addition to the murder indictments, Christopher John Vasquez has been indicted for five counts of smuggling of persons. According to the indictment, Vasquez knowingly encouraged and induced five individuals to enter and remain in the United States in violation of federal laws by harboring them from detection.
