In a dramatic incident near Bangkok, a police officer’s vehicle skidded off the road and fell into the Chao Phraya River. The driver, a police officer from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), was in a distressed state and desperately sought help for his wife, who was presumed to be trapped inside the submerged car. However, when rescue officers arrived, they couldn’t find the officer’s wife, adding to the mystery of the situation.
The incident took place under the Rama V Bridge, Nakhon In Road, Bang Phai Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District, and was reported to the Bang Sri Mueang Police Station. Police Sub-Lieutenant Vachiranusorn Kampaeng led a team of investigators to the scene at around 1 am.
Rescue workers quickly responded to a call about a man floating in the Chao Phraya River. When they rescued him, they discovered a 9mm magazine-type pistol attached to his right waistband, along with a head wound. The man was visibly distraught and continuously cried out for help.
During the investigation, it was revealed that there was another woman in the car with the police officer. However, she was still missing. The injured man, identified as Police Sergeant Major Pakornkiart, was unable to provide coherent answers during the initial questioning.
Eyewitnesses, including a man named Phuridej, who was returning home on his motorcycle, reported that two vehicles, a taxi and a van, were speeding. While the taxi managed to navigate the curve, the van crashed into the roadside barrier and fell into the Chao Phraya River.
Phuridej saw the man floating in the water, desperately calling for help for his wife trapped inside the car. Unable to assist directly, Phuridej immediately informed the police and helped transport the injured man to Pranangklao Hospital.
Somboon Sitchai, a volunteer with the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, described how the injured man was found clinging to the half-submerged car door in the Chao Phraya River. After a tense 10-minute negotiation, the man agreed to be rescued on the condition that his wife would be searched for.
At 2.45 am, a recovery vehicle was called to retrieve the car from the river. The vehicle was identified as a grey-black five-door Hyundai utility vehicle with severe damage to the front and back, as well as shattered windows. No other passengers were found inside.
Initial investigations revealed that the injured man was a police officer affiliated with the CCIB. Further investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the accident and the whereabouts of the officer’s missing wife.
The incident has left many questions unanswered, and authorities are working diligently to unravel the mystery and provide answers to the concerned parties..
