The main suspect in the murder case of a 29-year-old man in Sohana’s Kandala village has been apprehended by the police. The suspect, identified as Ameer Khan, is a barber residing in Nadiali, Sohana. The incident occurred on November 23, when the victim, Gurjant Singh, had visited the accused’s shop and spent two hours there before being allegedly murdered and dumped outside the salon.
After committing the crime, Ameer called Gurjant’s brother, Jasvir Singh, claiming that he had found him lying injured on the road. However, the police discovered CCTV footage showing Ameer dragging Gurjant out of the shop and leaving him on the road before fleeing the scene. Ameer’s actions were captured by nearby surveillance cameras.
Jasvir, a resident of Bakarpur, Sohana, stated in his police statement that Gurjant had visited Ameer’s salon around 11.15 pm on November 23. Later that night, Ameer informed Jasvir about Gurjant being unconscious in a deep pothole near the shop, with multiple injuries. Jasvir rushed to the scene and immediately took his brother to GMCH, Sector 32, where Gurjant was pronounced dead.
The police have arrested Ameer and presented him before a local court, which has remanded him into police custody for three days. The authorities aim to investigate the details of how Ameer carried out the murder and the motive behind this brutal crime.
In response to the incident, Sohana police have charged Ameer under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offense, or giving false information to screen offender) of the Indian Penal Code. Sources have revealed that the accused and the victim consumed alcohol together inside the closed salon.
