An abducted baby in Idaho was discovered dead in a wooded area, while his father, the suspect in the murder of the baby’s mother, was found naked nearby. The father, Jeremy Albert Best, had fled with the infant son after killing his wife, Kali Jean Randall. Stephen Sorace reported
An abducted infant from Idaho was tragically discovered deceased in a wooded area, while his father, who is a suspect in the murder of the baby’s mother, was found nearby naked, according to authorities on Saturday. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office stated that 10-month-old Zeke Gregory Best was found down an embankment off a roadway east of Idaho Falls after hunters alerted authorities about a man in a sleeping bag on the side of the road, who was naked and making strange statements.
The naked man was identified as 48-year-old Jeremy Albert Best, who was wanted for the killing of his 38-year-old wife, Kali Jean Randall, on Thursday night. Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a home in Victor, Idaho, where they discovered Randall’s lifeless body. Best, who was subsequently named as a suspect in her death, had fled the scene with their infant son.
Teton County officials issued an Amber Alert for the missing 10-month-old child, Zeke Gregory Best, warning that his father, Jeremy Albert Best, was heavily armed. Best was known to be driving a black 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe with Idaho license plates.
Interestingly, the day before the alleged murder and abduction, deputies were called to the Swan Valley General Store in Bonneville County, where a man later identified as Best was observed wandering around the store without any clothing.
Following his discovery in the woods, Best was evaluated at the scene and transported via ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he was handed over to hospital staff to address further medical and mental health concerns. Although the exact details of what transpired at the hospital are unknown, the East Idaho News reported that Best was discharged on Thursday afternoon.
Authorities found Best’s Chevy SUV down the embankment where Zeke’s body was located. The cause of the infant’s death has not been disclosed.
Once Best was taken into custody, he received medical treatment at the scene before being booked into the Bonneville County Jail. He will remain incarcerated until his arraignment.
The investigation into this tragic incident involves detectives from Bonneville County, Idaho State Police, and the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from Idaho Falls Police Detectives and FBI agents..
