Three people were killed and two others were critically injured in a bus-auto collision in Bihar’s Sitamarhi. The accident occurred due to low visibility caused by fog. In a separate incident in Odisha, eight pilgrims died and twelve others were injured when their vehicle crashed into a stranded truck. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fell asleep. A bus collided with an auto-rickshaw in Bihar’s Sitamarhi, resulting in three deaths and two critical injuries. The incident occurred near Dhurv College on NH 22 on Sitamarhi-Sonbarsa Road at around 8 am. The auto driver, Shambhu Mandal, was from Sonbarsa.
The accident happened while the auto was en route to Sitamarhi. It appears that low visibility due to fog was the cause of the mishap. Out of the five passengers in the auto, three died immediately, while the other two are in critical condition and receiving treatment.
In another incident, eight pilgrims, including a woman and a child, lost their lives, and twelve others were injured after their vehicle collided with a stranded truck in Odisha’s Keonjhar. The deceased were residents of Pudamari in Ganjam district. The injured were initially taken to Ghatagaon and later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The accident occurred while the vehicle was traveling from Pudamari village to visit Goddess Trarini.
Initial investigations suggest that the driver of the vehicle fell asleep, leading to the accident. Further investigation is underway.
Efforts are being made to apprehend the bus driver who fled the scene..
