Two Las Vegas teenagers, Tyrine Campbell and Hunter Richmond, have been arrested for breaking into a home, pistol-whipping residents, and stealing over $28,000 and a vehicle. The crime matches a string of burglaries in California targeting Asian business owners. The suspects face multiple charges and are scheduled to appear in court on December 4th. Police are investigating potential connections to other crimes. Stephanie Overton reported
According to an arrest report, two teenagers from Las Vegas, Tyrine Campbell, 18, and Hunter Richmond, 18, have been accused of breaking into a home, pistol-whipping several residents, and stealing over $28,000 along with a vehicle. The incident was reported to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on November 25th. The victims informed the police that three individuals entered their home through the backyard, held them at gunpoint, and took their money and car. One of the victims stated that he was smoking a cigarette in the backyard around 1:30 a.m. when the armed suspects approached him. They forced him to lie on the ground and undress before escorting them through the house, demanding all the money. The victim told the police that the suspects took him upstairs to the master bedroom, where they pistol-whipped him. They continued to each room in the house, gathering the remaining five family members and demanding money from them. The suspects then led the family downstairs at gunpoint, taking them to the garage where a safe was located. They forced the family to kneel on the ground and provide the combination to the safe. During this time, one suspect pistol-whipped a 15-year-old victim and another kicked a different victim in the head, causing her to fall and collide with someone else. After taking the car keys, the suspects locked the family in the garage and fled in their vehicle. The family reported a loss of $28,400 in cash, two iPhones, and their car. The police later found the phones, but the suspects and the stolen vehicle were not present at the scene. Authorities believe that this crime is similar to a series of burglaries targeting Asian business owners in various counties in California. An inmate named Lorenzo Taylor, who was imprisoned in the High Desert Detention Center in California, made phone calls discussing the continuation of their criminal activities to gather money for his bail. During one of these conversations, someone mentioned a person called “TC,” later identified as Campbell, who participated in a robbery where something went wrong due to multiple people being present. Campbell allegedly stopped by an individual’s apartment to boast about the crime. Additionally, detectives discovered an Instagram account belonging to Campbell, which featured photos of him holding a gun and cash with captions indicating his desire for more money. On November 27th, the LVMPD Criminal Apprehension Team apprehended Campbell during a vehicle stop. He attempted to escape but was apprehended. Richmond was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, which was registered under his mother’s name. He also tried to flee but was quickly caught. Campbell confessed to driving Richmond’s vehicle to the targeted house and claimed responsibility for controlling the six individuals present. He stated that they found a significant amount of money, and he received approximately $5,000 as his share. Richmond claimed that he had no prior knowledge of their intentions and was surprised when a gun was placed in his lap before they left. Both Campbell and Richmond were booked into the Clark County Detention Center and are being held on $75,000 bail. They face various charges, including robbery, kidnapping, battery, burglary, grand larceny, and conspiracy. Their next court appearance is scheduled for December 4th, and if they make bail, they will be ordered to have no contact with each other..
