Las Vegas Man Identified as Victim of Fatal Rollover Crash in Clark County
A tragic accident that occurred nearly two weeks ago in Clark County has claimed the life of Leovigildo Morales Gomes, a 25-year-old resident of Las Vegas. According to the Nevada State Police, Gomes succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash and was pronounced dead on arrival. This incident took place on November 18 at 9:49 p.m., specifically along State Route 161, just east of mile marker 4.
Upon receiving the report, the Nevada State Police promptly dispatched their officers to the scene. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the driver of a Jeep Wrangler had been traveling eastbound on SR161, east of mile marker 4, when, for reasons unknown, the vehicle veered off the travel lane to the right. Subsequently, the Jeep collided with a sign, veered into a ditch, rotated, and ultimately overturned.
Tragically, both occupants of the vehicle were ejected during the course of the crash. Gomes was identified as the passenger, as confirmed by NSP authorities. In order to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding this incident, an ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command M.I.R.T (Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team).
This devastating fatality marks the 68th fatal crash for the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Southern Command, resulting in a total of 82 fatalities thus far in 2023.
