Police Respond to Report of Deceased Person in San Francisco
On the evening of August 13, at approximately 7:24 p.m., officers from the San Francisco Police Department’s Richmond Station received a call regarding a deceased individual in the vicinity of Fulton Street and 22nd Avenue near Golden Gate Park. The officers immediately proceeded to the scene to investigate the matter.
Upon arrival, officers were approached by a witness who informed them that they had discovered the lifeless body of an adult female inside a duffel bag. The witness, who later identified the deceased as Kelly Koike, 37, of San Francisco, also known as Kelly Brock, promptly contacted the authorities. In response to the distressing situation, the officers immediately called for medical assistance. Paramedics from the San Francisco Fire Department arrived at the scene and sadly pronounced the victim deceased.
The San Francisco County Medical Examiner’s office was then summoned to the location to assess the circumstances surrounding the death. Given the suspicious nature of the incident, the San Francisco Police Department’s Homicide Detail took charge of the investigation. However, after a thorough examination, the County Medical Examiner could not definitively determine the cause of death, leaving it undetermined.
The victim’s mother, Roya Koike, provided some insight into Kelly Koike’s background, revealing that she had grown up in Castro Valley and had been grappling with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Sadly, Kelly had been resistant to seeking medication and treatment for her conditions, leading her to live on the streets for the past four years.
During the course of the investigation, the dedicated investigators managed to identify two individuals believed to be connected to the incident. These suspects were later identified as Alexander Madden, 26, and Emilia Beckhusen, 33.
On November 2, the San Francisco Police Department apprehended Alexander Madden, charging him with unlawful disposal of human remains and conspiracy. Subsequently, on November 4, Emilia Beckhusen was also taken into custody on the same charges.
While progress has been made in the case with the arrests of the suspects, it is important to note that the investigation remains ongoing and active. The San Francisco Police Department urges anyone with information pertaining to this incident to contact their 24-hour Tip Line at (415) 575-4444 or send a text message to TIP411, starting the message with SFPD.
