Hot Springs Woman Arrested for Allegedly Driving Stolen Car
Details of the Arrest
A 36-year-old woman from Hot Springs, Ashley Nicole Castle, was taken into custody early Friday morning on charges of driving a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred around 4 a.m., when Hot Springs police officer James Yerina spotted a maroon 2016 Nissan Maxima heading south on Central Avenue. Upon running a check on the license plate, it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Hot Springs.
Officer Yerina promptly pulled over the vehicle in the 400 block of Higdon Ferry Road and detained the driver, identified as Ashley Castle, along with the passenger. Castle claimed that she had picked up the car for a friend named Shawn on October 28. She stated that Shawn had been arrested at Walmart, located on 1601 Malvern Ave., and she had not been in contact with him since. However, investigations revealed that the vehicle had actually been reported stolen on November 28. Consequently, Castle was taken to the Garland County Detention Center, where she will face charges of theft of property, which can carry a prison sentence of three to ten years.
It is worth noting that the passenger was released without any charges filed against them.
