Flooding in Kwale County Affects Infrastructure: Urgent Funding Needed for Bridge Reconstruction
Recently, the heavy rains in Kwale County have severely impacted the local infrastructure. As an engineer, I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of the flooding while escorting the new mega crane to Shimoni Port. The Ramisi bridge, a vital connection for the community, was completely flooded, leading to tragic consequences for several families. My deepest condolences go out to them during this difficult time.
I humbly appeal to the authorities, particularly the State House of Kenya, to provide essential funding for the reconstruction of the Ramisi bridge. This is not just a matter of convenience; it is crucial for the future development and prosperity of the ports in the region.
It is imperative that immediate action is taken to build a better and more resilient bridge that can withstand future weather challenges. By investing in improved infrastructure, we can ensure the safety and efficiency of transportation networks, benefitting not only the local community but also the national economy as a whole.
Therefore, I earnestly request the support and collaboration of all stakeholders in addressing this urgent matter. Together, let us work towards a brighter future for Kwale County, where our infrastructure can withstand the tests of time and nature. Amen.
