The Passing of Hon. Joyce Mpanga: A Pioneer for Women in Education
The U.S. Mission in Uganda is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Hon. Joyce Mpanga, an alumna of Indiana University (1962) and a distinguished participant in the prestigious Fulbright Program. As the first Ugandan woman to be part of this program, Hon. Mpanga paved the way for countless other women to pursue educational opportunities.
Hon. Mpanga’s involvement in the Fulbright Program exemplifies her commitment to advancing women’s education and empowerment. Her accomplishments not only benefited her personally but also inspired and created new possibilities for future generations of women in Uganda.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Hon. Joyce Mpanga’s family and friends during this difficult time. Her legacy as a trailblazer and champion for women’s education will forever be remembered and cherished.
