According to investigators, the tragic incident unfolded in Rowan County, North Carolina, resulting in the couple’s death in an apparent murder-suicide. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call just before 6:30 p.m. reporting a domestic dispute at a residence on Old Concord Road. The concerned neighbor who made the call informed the deputies that the couple, identified as Joseph Benjamin Zickafoose, 54, and his wife Melissa Kincaid Zickafoose, 51, had locked themselves inside the garage. Failing to persuade them to come out, the neighbor sought assistance from the authorities.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies forcefully gained entry into the garage and discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple, both having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The investigation into the incident remains open, pending the results from the medical examiner’s assessment and a comprehensive examination of the evidence gathered at the location. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has not released any further details regarding the case.
