Korean National Involved in Fatal Multiple-Vehicle Collision in Cebu City
In a separate incident, a Korean national involved in a multiple-vehicle collision on Pope John Paul II Street, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, tragically passed away in the hospital. The collision occurred early in the morning on Saturday, November 11.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, the deputy city director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), reported that Jaehyun Lee was pronounced dead at 6 p.m. on the same day. Lee, who was suspected of being intoxicated, was driving along Pope John Paul II Avenue when he collided with a Toyota Fortuner (GAP 7443) driven by Marc Dominic Rama Arante near the Carmelite Monastery.
Arante, intending to confront Lee, attempted to exit his vehicle but was unable to do so as Lee continued driving and crashed into a Toyota Vios (GAR 6077) driven by Erwin Leonardo Conson. Additionally, Lee collided with a motorcycle owned by Jomarie Bernas, who tragically lost his life at the scene. Lee did not stop there; he also struck two mountain bikers, Adrian Seguera and John Rin Lindra.
Lee’s chaotic drive finally came to an end when he crashed into a concrete fence and a Visayan Electric pole. Despite his passing, Rafter emphasized that Bernas’ family still has the option to file a complaint and seek damages against Lee’s estate.
