The human remains that were discovered in Mesquite on October 12 have been identified as Jennifer Mendez Olascoaga, a teacher’s assistant at Dallas ISD who had been missing since September. This update was provided by the Dallas County medical examiner’s website. The remains were found by Seagoville police in a wooded area near Interstate 20 and Lawson Road, which is approximately 2 miles away from where Mendez’s abandoned car was located on the morning of September 28.
The last known sighting of Mendez was captured on surveillance footage at a QuikTrip in Dallas, specifically on U.S. Highway 175 and South Belt Line Road. This footage showed her dropping off a friend at Creekside mobile home park in Seagoville. Interestingly, the friend who was dropped off received disturbing text messages shortly after Mendez left. These messages included phrases like “You’ll never find her. She’s gone.” Concerned, the friend forwarded these messages to Mendez’s family, indicating the possibility of foul play.
Although the cause of Mendez’s death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner’s office, the Mesquite police have launched an investigation into her death in connection with her disappearance. This investigation includes a focus on the unsettling text messages. At this time, no suspects have been identified.
