In Pasadena, California, several high school students from Riverside County are being considered as suspects in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and other items from the locker room of the University of Colorado football team during the Rose Bowl game. The thefts occurred on October 28 while the Buffaloes were playing against the UCLA Bruins. After losing the game 28-16, at least five players discovered that their valuables, including gold and diamond chains, had been stolen. The students involved are from Beaumont High School, according to authorities in Pasadena. However, it has not been confirmed whether they were recruits on an official visit to UCLA for the game, as some media reports claim. The Beaumont Unified School District released a statement expressing disappointment and disheartenment over the alleged involvement of their students in the incident, emphasizing that the alleged actions do not represent their core values as a school, district, and community. Some of the stolen items have already been returned, with parents of the students mailing them back. The case has been turned over to the juvenile division of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office..
