BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Kern County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the arrest of a woman involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Wasco. The incident, which occurred on Sunday night, resulted in the death of a bicyclist. The crash was reported at the intersection of Poso Drive and Palm Avenue at around 6 p.m. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a severely injured bicyclist lying on the ground. Tragically, the bicyclist succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by the authorities.
Following their investigation, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the suspect vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. They subsequently arrested a 21-year-old woman named Gabriela Garza, who resides in Wasco. Garza is facing charges related to the hit-and-run incident, as well as other violations of the vehicle code.
The identity of the bicyclist, a 41-year-old woman, has not been released yet. The Kern County Coroner’s Office will disclose her name at a later time.
