The 19-year-old suspect in the Pearland flea market shooting, where a 10-year-old boy was killed and four others injured, has turned himself in. Two other individuals have also been arrested in connection with the shooting. Authorities are still investigating the incident. ABC13 Houston reported
In Pearland, Texas, the 19-year-old suspect involved in the shooting at a flea market over the weekend has surrendered himself to authorities. The shooting incident resulted in the death of a 10-year-old boy and injuries to four other individuals, including a 14-year-old girl. David Negrete, who was placed on the state’s most wanted list following the shooting, was identified by Pearland police as one of the suspects.
The shooting took place at Cole’s Antique Village and Flea Market in Brazoria County on Sunday evening. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they discovered five people who had been shot. All five victims were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Tragically, the 10-year-old boy could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old man, who has since been discharged from the hospital, were also among those injured.
In connection with the shooting, two other individuals, Julianna Espino and Cruz Meza, were apprehended and face charges of tampering with evidence and providing false information to the police. Both 18-year-olds have been booked into the Brazoria County Jail.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. It is believed that an argument between Negrete and another person escalated into a violent exchange of gunfire. The Pearland community has been shaken by the incident, as gun violence is not a common occurrence in the area.
The police have released images of the suspect as they continue their investigation. They have also confirmed that two handguns were used in the shooting, but the exact number of shots fired remains unknown. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Pearland Police Department Tip Line or Brazoria County Crime Stoppers.
