A woman employee of a homestay in Agra, India, was allegedly gang-raped by a group of individuals within the vicinity of the Tajganj police station. The disturbing incident has gained national attention after a video of the victim pleading for help surfaced on social media. According to reports, the woman was forced to consume alcohol before being sexually assaulted.
In response to the incident, the police promptly took action and arrested five individuals, including a female employee of the homestay. Archana Singh, assistant commissioner of police, stated that a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. The accused are believed to be associated with the management of the homestay, and an investigation is currently underway.
The victim, a mother of four, joined the homestay as an employee around a year and a half ago. However, her circumstances took a horrifying turn when the accused coerced her into giving them a sum of ₹4.5 lakh. This money was obtained from the sale of a piece of land, and the accused used a compromising video of her as leverage to blackmail her. Fearing the release of the video, the victim complied with their demands.
The victim, who is in her thirties, has alleged that she was manipulated and forced into engaging in “immoral acts” by the accused. On the day of the incident, the accused deceived her into visiting the homestay under the pretext of celebrating Diwali, a Hindu festival. Once there, they forcibly made her consume alcohol and, when she resisted, they attacked her with a glass bottle and proceeded to gangrape her.
A video has emerged showing the victim desperately pleading for help. In the footage, she can be seen crying while huddled against the balcony railing of a house. Later, a man is seen dragging her into a room, attempting to cover her mouth as she screams.
All five accused were presented before the court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The police investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are determined to ensure justice for the victim.
